Jersey Sniper

Jersey Sniper is a small social game. You photograph sports jerseys you spot in public, an AI scores how unlikely that jersey is in that place, and your friends react and vote. This page explains what we collect and the rules for using it.

Privacy Policy

What we collect

Account information — your email address, a username, and a display name. The email is used to sign you in and to reset your password. It is never shown to other users.
Photos you post — the images you upload, stored on our servers.
Location text — the place name you type in when posting, such as "Danville, CA". The app does not access your device's GPS or location services. Approximate map coordinates are estimated from the text you type, not from your device.
Activity in the app — your posts, comments, votes, reactions, friendships, blocks, and reports.

What we don't collect

Device GPS or background location
Contacts, calendar, microphone, or health data
Advertising identifiers. There is no advertising in Jersey Sniper, and we do not sell or share personal information with advertisers or data brokers.

How photos are used

When you post a photo, it is sent to Anthropic's Claude API to identify the jersey and produce a score. Anthropic processes the image to return that result. Your photo is then stored in our database so it can appear in your feed.

Posts are visible to your accepted friends by default. A post is only visible to all users of the app if you switch on the "public" toggle when you create it.

Supabase — database, authentication, and photo storage

Cloudflare — web hosting

These providers process data on our behalf so the app can function. We do not sell personal information.

Photos of other people

Jersey Sniper involves photographing people in public, so this deserves to be said plainly. Our community guidelines require you to ask a person before posting a photo of them, and prohibit photos of anyone under 18. If a photo of you has been posted without your agreement, contact us at the address below and we will remove it. You do not need an account to make that request.

Your control over your data

Delete a post — the "..." menu on any of your posts. This removes the post and its photo from storage.
Delete your account — Settings → Delete account. This permanently removes your account, posts, photos, comments, votes, and friendships. It cannot be undone.
Block someone — Settings, or the "..." menu on a post.
Request a copy or removal of your data — email us.

If you are in the UK, EU, or a US state with comparable law, you have rights to access, correct, delete, and port your personal data, and to object to its processing. Email us and we will action the request.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account exists. Deleting your account removes it. Backups may persist for a short period before being overwritten.

Children

Jersey Sniper is not intended for anyone under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. Posting photographs of anyone under 18 is prohibited regardless of who posts them. If you believe a child has created an account or appears in a photo, contact us and we will remove it.

Security

Accounts are protected by password, and access to data is restricted at the database level so users can only read what they are permitted to see. No system is perfectly secure; please use a password you don't use elsewhere.

Changes

If this policy changes materially we'll update the date at the top and notify users in the app.

Terms of Use

Using the app

You must be 13 or older to use Jersey Sniper. You're responsible for what you post and for keeping your password secure.

Community guidelines

These are also shown in the app, and you agree to them when you sign up:

Ask first. If a person is in your photo, ask them before you post it. If they say no, or you can't ask, don't post it.
Crop to the jersey. You don't need someone's face for a snipe.
Never photograph anyone under 18. No exceptions.
Real snipes only. Jerseys you actually spotted. No screenshots, stock photos, game shots, or AI-generated images.
Nothing cruel. The joke is the jersey, never the person wearing it.
Take it down on request. If someone asks you to remove a photo of them, remove it.

Your content

You keep ownership of your photos. By posting, you give us permission to store and display them within the app so the app can work. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account.

Moderation

Photos are checked automatically before posting, and users can report content from the "..." menu on any post. We may remove content or close accounts that break the guidelines.

Scores

Scores are generated by an AI and adjusted by user votes. They are for entertainment. Player and team identifications may be wrong.

No warranty

Jersey Sniper is provided as-is, without warranty. It's a hobby project run by one person. It may break, lose data, or stop working.
